Chanel Mimosa

Hi guys,

A while back, I blogged about the new trend for this Summer, the yellow nail varnish. My only experience with yellow nail varnish goes way back to when I was very young, we're talking about the 80's which was the only time where 'different' coloured nail varnish was sold in Brazil and it was not for long anyway. So within that period I bought a couple of bottles, yellow and blue. The yellow, I can remember well, it was a canary yellow and it didn't look that nice, plus it was very difficult to apply.
Nowadays, we are spoiled for choice, even in Brazil the trend has caught again and now they also have some amazing colours and some great dupes too.

Anyways, the other day I was at the Chanel counter and saw a sample for Mimosa, I applied just a little bit and looked quite nice and shimmery. I contemplated that 'dot' of nail varnish for the whole weekend and the more I looked at it the more curious I got about it. So, I only had one way to answer all my questions about yellow nail varnishes and so I gave myself a full manicure at the Chanel counter.
I know it's terribly cheeky but I really wanted to know things like, was the texture good? Was it easy to apply? How many coats would I need? And ultimately how would it look? I have bought 2 nail varnishes from Chanel, Particuliere and Nouvelle Vague and I find the latter a real difficulty to apply. So this time, I'm keeping my £17 in my pocket until I try the stuff and then I can make my mind up about it.

(Sorry for the bad manicure and mobile picture)

Nothing has changed much in the yellow nail varnish field I guess. The shimmer is there but only when you apply the first coat and then it fades away as more coats get put on and you still need 3 coats in order for it to look good.
The colour is very nice though, even on my pale skin it didn't look bad. Almost a lemony yellow although I could say it also looks like a light mustard.
The application is streaky but it seams to dry quickly in between coats, Nouvelle vague just doesn't.

Verdict: It was great to try but I'm not going to buy, I like this colour very much but I'm not mad about it and I'm not skillful enough to apply such a hard colour anyway. If I know that I am going to make loads of mistakes and wipe my nails off a few times, I rather do that with a cheaper nail varnish.

I could be eating my words soon (I know myself) but for now, what are your thoughts on Chanel Mimosa and yellow nail varnishes? Will you give it a go?

See you soon.
x

Bad Cover Girl

Cover Girl just admitted that the model in this ad is wearing false eyelashes.
The ad, you may notice is for their 'lash blast volume' product.
So, to make your eyelashes longer girls you need fake ones...or a prescription.

Bachelorette Biz

I don't see what the huge deal is about the dude in the mask. Oh, his name is Jeff. Sorry, I'm not into appearances or labels. My point is: it's not a paper bag. You can still see your face bro. Just saying. There is so much angst with this dude and his interaction with the others. It seems setup. Over it. Also, this year, is it just me or do the bachelor's have super tragic stories? It's almost as if the producers felt they had to pick men with such drama/heart-wrenching stories in case you weren't completely sold on Ashley, you'd find someone to love, empathize and root for regardless. Also, let's talk about the best part of the show this week: THE JABBAWOKEEZ. Don't judge, but, last time I was in Vegas I got to see their show. Amazing. I highly reccommend it. I'd liked to briefly touch on Bentley. People here are saying that he's a 'really great guy' and that he was edited unfairly. Uh, okay. Whomever he was talking about he said what he said and that's that. People don't like editors because they see themselves on TV. And it's somehow surprising. Look, I'm sorry he hurt Ashley's feelings but I found myself laughing everytime he's onscreen. He is ridiculous.
It's clear he's having just as much fun playing to the camera's as we are watching it. I must say, I'm a little nervous for the 'Ashley Roast' a la Comedy Central next week. Seems unecessary and mean.
Oh Ashley, hang in there. The season just started.

Obesity Is So Complicated When You're Reading HuffPo

This is becoming extremely annoying watching people write article after article about how complicated weight loss is, and what our next excuse is for being fat.   Some of the more recent, laughable pieces; Blame The Workplace For American Obesity, Obesity in America: Are Factory Farms, Big Pharma and Big Food to Blame?, Combating Obesity: How and How Come, Are Chefs To Blame For Obesity?, Why is our Food Making us Fat?, Obesity: Character Flaw, or Neurochemical Disease?, and finally; Why We Get Fat.
I am ready to begin arguing that its articles such as these that are contributing to obesity by obscuring the readers' understanding of obesity, while offering them excuses for their girth, blaming genetics and diseases.  These articles forgive the overweight reader, suggesting that not being obese is very difficult and complicated.  The last thing people who are overweight need is for the issue of weight loss to be translated into Greek.  We need to educate people on the simple facts, which require no special diet book sold on Amazon for $18.75, with the option of the "Extreme Weight Loss Guide" for and additional $8.85 (plus separate shipping and handling).
Obesity is simple.  It is the result of consuming more calories than you've used.  Weight loss is simple.  Use more calories than you consume.  The average person only requires 1,500 to 2,500 calories per day.  For every extra pound of body fat you have, that means that you consumed 3,500 calories more than what your body requires in order to function.   You can easily lose 1 pound of body fat in just over 3 days, by simply creating a calorie deficit of 500 calories per day (there are many online tools that can be used to calculate your required caloric intake, so you know how many calories to be taking in in order to maintain the deficit).
For your 500 calorie per day deficit, you can either create the entire deficit by adding exercise, or by reducing calorie consumption.  The best way, is to do a combination; 250 less calories consumed, and 250 calories burned with exercise.  A twenty ounce soda contains around 250 calories, so simply replace your afternoon Coke with a Diet Coke, or better yet, water (also, you should get in the habit of always reading nutrition labels when they are available to you).  Spend 30 minutes on an Elliptical Trainer to burn the other 250 calories.
Do this correctly, and you will lose two pounds of body fat per week.  Actual weight may not decrease, as you may be building muscle.  A good way to monitor your results is to take measurements around your waist, arms, and thighs.  Be patient, and stick with it.  If this is not effective, I suggest you see your doctor (who will most likely say that there is nothing wrong with you, you are simply cheating on your diet) because you may have a medical condition.
      Its just that simple.
